The problem with living somewhat close to L.A. is that you're tempted by the Monday night rock n' roll shows; however, you realize that the headlining band plays after three other bands. By that time, it's 11:45 p.m. and you still have to drive an hour and twenty minutes home. If you don't drink, you just fall asleep at the wheel and die a fiery death. If you do drink, you get arrested well before you make it out of the free parking lot because you couldn't wait for the attendant to remove that silly little chain. Heck, in movies cars drive through fences so why should a little piece of metal dental floss hold you back? (BTW, this never happened).
Therefore, I will not be going to West Hollywood on Monday to see one of my favorite bands play, Murder By Death. Hailing from Indiana--and minus one keyboardist--they still manage to blow me through a glass jug and right into an empty-whiskey-glass-mystical state of mind. This is the band that I can listen to with my mom. It's also fun when your mom asks "Oh, this is nice. Who is this?"
And you get to answer, "Murder By Death."
There's a live in-store performance on youtube.com:
