Molokai

Neil walking to paddle out.

Molokai

Wave coming into Halawa beach. Neil surfed that wave.

This is a full shot of the Halawa Valley looking down into it.
The sun came out for this shot.

Shredding Coconuts

That's me and I'm sitting on a cutting board with a sharp claw at the end that you use to carve out the meat of the coconuts; we accidentally left out this coconut shaver and never saw it again but the coconut candy we made was delicious!

Hanamaulu Beach Park

There's nothing like watching a man be reunited with his machete and a coconut. We camped in this park for a few days. Any time you tell a white person that you stayed at Hanamaulu, they cringe and say "I'm sorry." White people are afraid of this beach park. We had no problems when we stayed there and the people in the park were very nice to us and friendly.

True there might be drugs going around there but we never encountered any during our stay nor were we looking for any drugs for that matter. We did get to see a boar be skinned while it was hung by its ankles, play ping pong with an energetic man named Gavin, and make coconut candy.

The issue with Hanamaulu Beach Park is that no agency wants to spend the money to fix the toilet areas which are very disgusting.

Neil Loves Custard Apple Too!

Yum!

My Favorite Fruit!

This fruit is called a mountain apple (or custard). The outside looks like a green pine cone without any gaps. The inside is fleshy and filled with black seeds that you have to spit out but it is my absolute favorite fruit; it's difficult to describe the flavor so here is a link to a website that describes the fruit very well http://www.custardapple.com.au/info.php.

We landed in Kauai.

Go! To Kauai

The plane behind us is one of the inter-island air carriers. Currently, the CFO of Go! airlines is on administrative leave for possibly abusing a confidentiality agreement between Go! and Hawaiin airlines when Go! was considering helping Hawaiin in their bankruptcy. Apparently, whatever was supposed to be held confidential was used to start Go! airlines.
Even so, we were very happy to be going onto this airplane but had we known, we still would have been happy to get on the airplane.

Damn It Feels Good to be a Gangster

Honolulu airport--a quick photo of Neil

That's right. We made it on the plane and so did all of our luggage. Once again, you take two California hobos, throw them in a suit and dress, and they get escorted to the plane like royalty! (Not really escorted, but I'm sure they thought we were business leaders)
Mind you, this was around 5 or 6 a.m. in the morning and we had just sat for half an hour in front of some valley girls headed to a wedding in Kauai.

Leaving Los Angeles

This is me begging and praying that all of our luggage would fit on the shuttle bus. I was very nervous that somehow, they'd get really mad at us because of our army of luggage and kick us off the shuttle bus and turn us out on the street. Luckily, all went well.

I've found FREE INTERNET!

I've searched far and wide on the island. I've failed miserably in the free internet cafes because my wireless driver could not detect diddly but now I am online, for free, and there is no hour limitation like at the library.

The free internet exists at Kukii Grove in Lihue, in the center of an outdoor mall, in the food court. And my wireless port loves the connection. Maybe she's been really picky and not just any free connection would be her internet lover. Who knows?

So while I have this beautiful, perfect, internet connection, I'm going to post our photos from Kauai!
